The Nikka Coffey Grain is one of two whiskeys that the Nikka distillery brews with Coffey stills. The name of the still comes from its creator, Eneas Coffey, an Irishman whose stills traveled a long way from Scotland to Japan in the year 1963.

Among Japanese whiskeys, this is undoubtedly a rarity, since it is distilled mainly from corn. It is not a common whiskey: in the mouth, it will be revealed as somewhat exotic, fruity and unique, where you will find final notes of corn, sweet and vibrant. This spirit is the ideal complement for adventurers, those who dare to launch themselves in search of a very unconventional whiskey.

It is no longer the beautiful single casks Nikka Coffey Grain which, for many years, strung collections of La Maison du Whiskey. Some of them are directly entered the pantheon of whiskey. Still very exclusive, Nikka decided to create a permanent version of this whiskey to allow everyone to discover this particular style sweet and charming. Made from a majority of maize from stills "Coffey", that unpublished single grain gives us an overview of grain whiskeys that form the basis of all the blends of the house Nikka. Color: Beautiful gold. Nose: Fresh and seductive at the same time, it reveals sweet notes of ripe pear, cherry juice and exotic fruits. Citrus, blood oranges and lemon, appear to make room for subtle floral notes, flower of apple and cherry trees. On opening it becomes greedy and pastry on the coconut, vanilla bourbon and chouquettes filled with whipped cream. Underlying-to fine touches of mint and musk tip. Palate: Juicy and greedy desire, it holds the promise of the nose. A ripe fruit medley accentuated by free rum notes (banana) and caramel. It becomes more complex on zan, licorice and star anise. The mid-palate is more fruity, dominated by pear nectar and quickly defer to more creamy flavors never dwell. The freshness is everywhere. Final: Equally tasty as the mouth, it grows on pear and vanilla bourbon before fainting on a beautiful and slightly bitter. Profile: Sweet and fruity.
