You will like to know that…
Macallan was founded by a school teacher named Alexander Reid in 1824. He was also a barley farmer, which probably makes it clearer where the idea to create his own distillery came from. As the majority of Scotch whisky is made using malted barley, a barley farmer has a natural advantage when it comes to creating high-quality whisky. After all of these years, Macallan has only increased in finesse and popularity.
From the beautiful portfolio of products at Macallan, the Fine Oak 12 Year Old is a noteworthy expression. Macallan takes its casks seriously. That is why this product is matured in three distinct types of oak casks. European oak casks that were previously used for sherry, American oak casks, also seasoned with sherry, and American oak casks which were previously used for bourbon are all used to age the spirit separately for a minimum of 12 years before the single malt is ready to be bottled.
This vibrant whisky, housed in an elegant bottle, is the youngest member of the Fine Oak range of whiskies offered by Macallan. The use of three different types of wood really and truly affects the flavour of the final product, making it extra smooth, delicate, and supremely complex. It is definitely worth trying.

The Macallan Fine Oak 12 Years
TASTING NOTES:
- Color: The Macallan Fine Oak 12 Years has a light amber color.
- Nose: This whisky is full of personality, like a woman over 30, who knows perfectly what she wants maintaining that silky and elegant hue balanced with experience. The balance between spicy oak aroma plus (ex-sherry) and citrus notes and memories of coconut and vanilla is a promising experience for the palate.
- Taste: In addition to confirming the previously citrus and spicy notes found on the nose, this Single Malt releases dried fruit flavors and caramel, all these features rounded by the time spent in oak.

The Macallan Distillers
The Macallan emerged in 1824 when Alexander Reid, a local farmer, got one of the first licenses to distill whiskey and leased 8 acres (just over 3 has) from the Earl of Seafield in order to establish the The Macallan Distillery.
